Training Groups & Practice Schedule
Official start Date - Sept 14, 2026 (Monday)
USAM offers training opportunities for swimmers ranging from those beginning competitive swimming to athletes competing at the championship, national, college, and international levels.
Group placement is determined by the coaching staff based on age, ability, experience, training readiness, commitment, and individual goals.
RED - Introductory / Developmental
Tuesday & Thursday • 5:00–6:00 PM
Saturday • 9:00–10:00 AM
Focus on competitive stroke fundamentals, starts, turns, water confidence, and learning how to train as part of a swim team.
WHITE / WHITE+ - Developing Competitive Swimmers
Tuesday, Thursday & Friday • 5:00–6:15 PM
Saturday • 9:00–10:15 AM
White+ Additional Practices:
Monday & Wednesday • 5:00–6:30 PM
Continued development of all four strokes, starts, turns, underwaters, endurance, and racing skills.
BLUE - Advanced Age Group
Monday & Wednesday • 5:00–6:30 PM
Tuesday, Thursday & Friday • 6:00–7:30 PM
Saturday • 10:30 AM–12:00 PM
Advanced age-group training with increased emphasis on technique, conditioning, racing skills, goal setting, and competition.
REGIONAL / NATIONAL - Championship & High Performance
Monday & Wednesday • 5:00–7:00 PM + Dryland
Tuesday, Thursday & Friday • 6:00–8:00 PM
Saturday • 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
Regional and National swimmers follow a championship-focused training program. National-level athletes may receive additional individualized training based on their goals and competition schedule.
NEW TO USAM?
New swimmers should attend an assessment so our coaching staff can recommend the best training group.
